Namaste 🙏🏻

Hi! I’m Nadia Piet - a yoga practitioner (both on and of the mat for ), scholar, and RYT200 teacher. I live in Amsterdam NDSM, am 30 y/o, and work as a creative freelancer in the digital culture space.

For me yoga is both a physical practice and a holistic way of living that brings balance to the body, mind and soul, the effort and the ease, action and inaction, the internal and external, the individual and the universal. It’s a gift that keeps on giving - and I’d love to pass to anyone who could benefit.

After practicing for 9+ years and informal teaching experience, I’ve recently finished my teacher training. I am now available for teaching hatha or vinyasa classes (regular or sub) as well as other opportunities or spaces to share the practice 😊

CALMING THE MIND

As mental health (and my own history with anxiety, depression, and burnout) is what brought me to yoga in the first place, my focus is with the mind-body connection, calming the nervous system, synching with the breath, and balancing the shtiram (power) and sukham (ease) in every movement. I truly believe (because I experienced it) consciously and consistently practicing healing, self-reflection, non-judgement, self-compassion, strength, and yoga philosophy on the mat, can help us integrate and embody these values when we step off the mat 🙂

ASANA

With almost a decade of practice, I have come to find joy and play in physical asana practice and moving my body through space building strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, and coordination. I love vinyasa, hatha, and creative surya variations, twisting, opening up, and balancing the body, and synching movement, breath, and mind.

Because I’m a digital creative myself and many of us spend our days seated and behind screens, a lot of my flows target physically counterbalancing the ‘office syndrome’.

I want my classes to be accessible to whoever is in the room - prioritising them feeling good in their bodies and appreciating their discipline to show up. Because I didn’t do any sports throughout my earlier life, I needed a tonnnn of adjustments when I started. While frustrating at the time, I’m now grateful because I know what it’s like not to be able to touch your toes or raise your arms above your head, and how to move through it.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I just finished my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in November of 2023 and I am looking forward to opportunities to share my offerings and bring forth the fruits of this practice with other practitioners and courageous souls whether consistently showing up or just starting off 🪷

As speaking and being on stages is part of my work, I feel confident in being in front of a groups. While I don’t have formal studio experience yet, I’ve been teaching friends (in groups and 1-on-1s) since 2018 when I started doing at-home classes throughout lockdown and hosted hybrid sessions for my colleagues at the time.

A timeline of my yogi journey

Because of challenges in both my mental in physical health, it took me 4+ years of home practice to gather the courage to join in-studio classes.

I am eternity grateful to Adriene for being my first stepping stone on this path.
