AIxDESIGN and the KB (the National Library of the Netherlands) are building an exhibition and public programme about AI. We're looking for a few people to help shape it: a performance for the opening, a session in the programme, and an (art)work for the exhibition.

Long before neural nets, libraries were the machines we built to organise human knowledge. Bringing the KB's collection together with work by makers, the show looks at what AI is, where it comes from, and how it connects to the much older story of how we've stored, sorted, and searched what we know. AI has arrived faster than any real understanding of it, and a national library, open to anyone who walks in, is a fitting place to take that public. Part of the show lives in the KB Atelier, with talks, workshops, and screenings alongside, and we want it to be AI literacy you can wander into.
Whatever the format, we're after work that engages AI in some way, critical, creative, hands-on, or playful. It's a library, not a gallery, so the people meeting your work are a curious general public, not an art crowd, and the best pitches land for someone with no background in AI or art. Bonus points if it also speaks to archives, libraries, or how we store and sort what we know, though you don't need to touch the KB's collection to take part.
Pitch to whichever fits, and you're welcome to pitch more than one.

A. Something for the opening night - a performance, talk, screening, tour, ritual, booth, game, or another experience for the opening event in November 2026. Fee €1,500 - 2,000.

B. A session in the events programme - our ongoing programme runs alongside the exhibition across the three months. Host a workshop or another session, once during the run, around 2.5 to 4 hours. Fee €2,000 - 2,500.

C. An (art)work for the exhibition - existing work to show in the space, in any format: an installation, sculpture, zine stand, a corner of your own, or something else. It sits in an open, public area for three months, mostly unsupervised, so it needs to hold up to constant foot traffic and curious hands. Nothing fragile, nothing that needs babysitting or a daily reset. An honorarium of €200 - 400, including any licensing and production.

You can be based anywhere. We'd love to hear from people outside the Netherlands too. The show is in-person in The Hague, and the fee stays the same wherever you're coming from.
An artist, designer, researcher, technologist, performer, musician, archivist, or educator working somewhere around AI, data, libraries, or cultural heritage. You don't need a finished idea or a polished CV. A clear, specific pitch is enough, and if you're not sure whether your idea fits, send it anyway.
